The Rice Lake Rotary Club has received two District Simplified Grants to help the Rice Lake Skateboard Park. The grants provided money to build ramps for the park. This is the first ramp (wedge pipe) provided through a grant application with the Barron County Sunrise Rotary club.
The second grant application was written to fund materials for three additional ramps at the park. This included reconstructing the half pipe which was moved to the new location at Moon Lake Park. The "half pipe" was in six pieces prior to the evening with Rotarian help.
It was a dilemma to decide how to place the Half Pipe Ramp on the concrete pavers piled in the corner. The exact placement of the foundation was soon determined with Rotarins transferring the pavers to the right location. With the help of Chad Schnacky, builder and skateboarder the following pictures depict the events of the evening.
The pavers were strategically placed by the volunteers who had no idea of what they were supposed to do.
It took levels and concentration to get those pavers to be just right.
Six different sections were placed together and and Skatelite was applied to create the return of the Half Pipe to its new location. Great job by Rotarians: Dave Wilson, Jim Haack, Roger Gray, Don Storm, Ned Wolf, Jim Gargulak, Jon Gargulak and others. Also thanks to Chad Schnacky and Scott Geiger for their hard work and patience. |
